Bridge Walk

For the past three days I’ve been relaxing at Fuller’s North Branch Outing Club on the Au Sable river in Northern Michigan. This weekend was the famous Lovells Bridge Walk. It’s supposed to be a spoof on the Mackinac bridge walk. I’d guess that there were about 350 people walking in this years rainy festivities as compared with over 800 last year. We had to walk about 2 minutes across the Au Sable river as opposed to the 2 hours in Mackinac. Still, the food and the conversations were fantastic.

Here’s what the river looked like:

Today I worked on the VW Vanagon. The parts that were expected didn’t come in so I spent some time removing an AC compressor and it’s associated rusted mounting bracket. It sure is handy having an oxyacetylene torch nearby to loosen stuck bolts. If all goes well the van should be on the road this weekend for it’s maiden voyage. When dealing with used automobiles seldom does everything ever go well….

    Did you fish?
That’s one thing I want (need) to learn soon.
So, when do you hit the road?
Whappens if the van craps out?
Is the maiden voyage the LONG voyage, or another “jaunt”?

Are you strapping a bike to your vehicle on the next trek of the journey?
    might be helpful…
